This gallery features art from my work in progress illustrated novel (or graphic novel) The Epic Adventures of Mekonnen. It is a blend of medieval history and fantasy. The story is about young warrior Mekonnen Sofaniyas from the Ethiopian Empire of Aksum in 6th century AD, who is thrust into alternate dimensions forming alliances with other "Warriors of Light" from around the world and the Realms of Shamayin (Heaven) to battle an invasion of malevolent beings from Realms of Darkness. The themes of this story are inspired by faith, love, overcoming the trials of life, multicultural unity, the mysterious power of words and numbers, the connections between history, myths and legends, and just plain old high adventure, thrills and suspense.
