This group is for the display of drawings, paintings, and photos of value to botany, the scientific study of plants. A photo of a plant does not, in itself, qualify as a botanical illustration. Rather the image must show, in detail, structures of the plant(s) depicted, or show the plants in typical habitats. It MUST also be labeled with information such as you would see in a botany textbook: Date and location photographed, scientific name, and ideally some relevant scientific facts about the plant. The best images also give a sense of scale (ruler, pen, person in the image so that one can see how big the plant is), but this is entirely optional. Images not meeting these criteria will be rejected, though I will be somewhat more lax on the caption with scientifically accurate drawings and paintings of plants. Fungi, algae, and other organisms traditionally included in plant science, but which are no longer considered to be in the plant kingdom, are acceptable.
