The technique of time-lapse photography involves opening the camera shutter for an extended period of time. This allows the photographer to "paint" on the image with light. Exposures can be anywhere from a second to a minute to an hour or more. Flash lights, hand-held camera flash units, flares, and colored lights are used as paint brushes to enhance objects or add something new and different to the image.Using a camera lens zoom by twisting it in and out while the shutter is open creates interesting light movements
