I'm a big fan of the early California Impressionists, such as Edgar Payne, William Wendt, and Guy Rose, and I take a lot of inspiration from their work. They were so adept at portraying the sense of light and natural beauty of the California landscape before it became developed by so many freeways and buildings like it is now. I try to continue that tradition by seeking out scenic landscapes in California which shine in the glorious light and color that this special area can provide; being a California Impressionist artist helps me to focus my style and passion as a painter on the things that I admire most in the art of the past, and to keep these wonderful traditions alive by continuing to celebrate the beauty of the California landscape in the present and out into the future.
